Hamachi is an incredible (and free) program for securely networking computers located anywhere in the world. For example, I can travel with my wireless laptop, and from my hotel or coffee shop, etc., I can securely access my home computer's files. Or I can share my files securely with friends or family anywhere else in the world creating a secure peer to peer file sharing network. I've even been able to remotely control my home computer so I can run applications, browse the entire hard drive, or browse the web from my home computer and see all of that on my laptop miles and miles away without fear of anyone intercepting the data or hacking in. This is free Virtual Private Networking software for personal use. You can read Steve Gibson's conversation about it here .
